A little more context

A family drama in a Bronx tenement

Odets’s play places a household under pressure from the Great Depression, giving public questions about money and opportunity a personal shape. Its three generations disagree about the future, but share a cramped home and a need to imagine a better life. That friction gives the revival a clear entry point for audiences encountering the play for the first time.

The play includes themes of poverty, family conflict, and economic hardship. Review the production’s current notices and access information through Manhattan Theatre Club before your visit.
